The Outsider Artist editors

Researches and writes OutsiderArtist.co.uk, an independent UK guide to outsider art, art brut, visionary environments and graffiti, with sources listed on every guide.

OutsiderArtist.co.uk is written and maintained by a small editorial team at Website Studio. We are enthusiasts rather than academic specialists, and we set out to bring together, in one clear and honest place, the story of art made outside the official art world: from Jean Dubuffet's art brut collection to Madge Gill, Henry Darger, Ron's Place and the graffiti crews of 1980s Bristol and London.

Every guide is researched from museum and archive sources, legislation, published research and reputable journalism, and lists its main sources at the end. Where sources disagree, we say so; where a story is legend rather than history, we label it. Our guides were researched and drafted with the help of AI tools and checked against those sources.
